Participatory Texts

Avatar: Official post Official post

Purpose:

The purpose of participatory texts are to allow users to view proposals as a text instead of a grid or list format. It's specifically tailored for discussing norms, plans, or other kinds of texts. It tailors itself by making every single paragraph into its own proposal. This allows for participants to discuss specific parts of a proposal in a detailed way through comments. Each paragraph/proposal can be individually voted on or further edited upon by administrators. To actually incorporate

Enabling it:

You have to enable it during the creation of a proposals component. Note that you cannot enable this setting after creating the component and placing a proposal.

Importing:

After you create and enable participatory texts there will be a button with that label near the top of the page. Once you click on it you can begin to import it. The supported formats are Markdown & ODT. There are certain specific rules for each format for the import to be successful. The details for the rules can be found in their example Markdown & ODT files, which can be found here.

Currently NOVA Web Development's Decidim is unable to import a document as we've been having issues with attachments, images, etc. In the NOVA Web Development Test Decidim there were issues with trying to import the Markdown example, however the provided ODT example worked. It can be viewed here.

More Info:

More information can be found in Decidim Docs and there are even more examples of this being used here and here.
