Decidim Modules/Plugins: Calendar

Avatar: Article officiel Article officiel

In this post we will be discussing the calendar module. More information on the module can be seen on this site https://decidim.org/modules ((Lien externe)this site contains both official and community created modules). Specifically, we will be discussing the functionality, similarities, differences of the calendar modules.

This modules has three different versions each created by a different organization or person. These organizations are PokeCode, aLabs, and Luis Sanchez. Each have slightly different methods of implementation (which are also on the site after clicking more information). Interestingly, each appear to have the same functionality. They all state in their READ.ME(Lien externe) that the module, "enable a multitenant global calendar for Consultations, Debates, External Events, Meetings and Participatory Processes. Giving a snapshot of all current activities in a calendar view form."

All of the Calendar Modules also state that it can:

  • Display past and future events in from of calendar and agenda.

    • Display Gantt graph of participatory processes

    • Download ICAL for import

Two of the versions of Calendar modules (PokeCode & aLabs) also list how you can customize the colors for events and create custom events to put on the calendar, which I believe will be especially useful for our usage of Decidim. The Gantt graph I believe won't be useful as we are currently using assemblies and not participatory processes. However, given a Gantt graph is a bar chart that illustrates a project schedule, we could potentially have a project in Decidim as a participatory process and have a Gantt graph created with little effort (we should test this).

Something to note is that both PokeCode & aLabs are official Decidim Partners(Lien externe) (specifically as service providers). Additionally, PokeCode's Calendar module also appears to be the one most recently updated.
